Sophia is a playwright, actor, director, and educator. She is thrilled to be making her debut at the Blyth Festival. As an award-winning playwright, her works include: The Philanderess (The Second City Award for Best New Comedy, 2015), Liars at a Funeral (Ellen Ross Stuart Opening Doors Award, 2018), and her newest project, Why It’s Impossible to Raise a Girl is set to premiere next year (stay tuned). Recently, she directed Every Brilliant Thing at the Thousand Islands Playhouse (2022) where she served as the Associate Artistic Director for three seasons. Brynn Godenir

Brynn Godenir is a multi-disciplinary artist and a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada. She has a passion for movement-based play, classical text, and fluffy dogs. Recent theatre credits include Space Girl (PTE), Like We Used To (Roseneath theatre), and Nell Gwynn (NTS). During the theatre industries pandemic hiatus, Brynn also found passion for film and has appeared in the TV shows Titans (Netflix/CW), Burden of Truth (CBC/CW) and Coroner (CBC/CW), and the films Erase & Rewind, Love Strikes Twice, Writing a Love Song, Christmas Reboot, The Love Subscription, On the 12th Date of Christmas, and Christmas by the Book.

Liars at a Funeral is Louise’s 20th lighting design for Blyth Festival since starting her career here in 1981. Since then she has designed lights for almost 600 shows across Canada and in the United States.  Recent credits include Casey and Diana (Stratford Festival); Beneath Springhill (Theatre Orangeville); Post-Democracy (Tarragon). Next project is Les Belles Soeurs (Stratford Festival).  It is always special to come back to the theatre where her career began!

Sue Lepage

Sue LePage has been designing for theatre, dance and opera for more than 40 years. Last season she designed the set for Too True to be Good at the Shaw Festival. Her new designs for “Anne of Green Gables the Ballet” (Canada’s Ballet Jorgen) had premiered and commenced to tour Canada and the United States when Covid shut them down. Other recent designs include Jani Lauzon’s I Call Myself Princess (Globe Theatre), sets for Bend it Like Beckham (Starvox) and costumes for Brigadoon at the Shaw Festival, where her credits include Me and My Girl, Ragtime, Saint Joan, Arcadia, Born Yesterday and many others.

In the world of opera her designs include the premiers of new work such as John Estacio and John Murrell’s Filumena, Frobisher, and Lillian Alling. Recent Toronto productions include Disgraced (Mirvish/ Hope in Hell), Beauty and the Beast (YPT), Innocence Lost (Soulpepper) and many shows over the years at Canadian Stage, Tarragon and Factory Theatre. Her work has appeared at major theatres across the country including The Banff Centre, Citadel, RMTC, National Arts Centre, Charlottetown Festival, Neptune Theatre and the Stratford Festival. Sue has been lucky to work with many great directors and some of Canada’s finest playwrights including James Reaney, David French, Judith Thompson, Tomson Highway, John Murrell and Carole Frechette. She is thrilled by the return of live performance and a new era of fresh voices and exciting new work.
