Will Good Government be the order of the day?

Blyth Festival’s 2009 Young Company premiere’s HOUSE HOLD

The Blyth Festival Young Company gives teenagers aged 13 – 19 the chance to create a play over 5 weeks. During the summer, the teenagers create, rehearse and perform the play, with training and guidance from professional Director Rebecca Picherack, dramaturge Gil Garratt and acting coach Claire Burns. This year, the members hail from all over Huron County. Nathanya Barnett is from Goderich; Beth Beardsley, Dan Moran and CJ Bouwman are from Wingham; Regan Bezaire, Katey Bornath, Liese Bornath, Reuben Elliot-Fisher, Amelia MacIsaac, TJ Robertson and Curtis te Brinke are all from Clinton; Sadie Chalmers and Alanna Roy are from Blyth; and Curtis Hall is from the town of Egmondville.

Last year the Young Company entered homes in the Blyth community and interviewed the residents about lies, rebellion, fear and community. This year, the Company invites you into their home. HOUSE HOLD explores teenage autonomy and authority as 7 teenagers hold up in a safe house during a global disaster. One day, 7 Others find them and throw their safe haven into chaos. How will these 14 Teenagers cope with Fear, Tolerance, and Scarcity and Good Will? Will Good Government be the order of the day?  Throw in some singing and dancing and the 2009 Young Company performance of HOUSE HOLD is sure to delight you.

Performances of the Young Company show “House Hold” will be from September 8 to September 12 at 7:00 pm at the Phillips Studio, located at 209 Dinsley St., Blyth. For tickets or more information, call the Blyth Festival Box Office toll free at 1-877-862-5984, or local at 519-523-9300 or by e-mail at info@blythfestival.com or online at www.blythfestival.com
